The ethnologist Jean-Claude Dupont has been interested in popular culture all his life. In 1998, the Quebec government awarded him the prestigious Gérard-Morisset award for his entire career devoted to heritage. Along the way, he developed an interest in painting… and he painted nearly 400 paintings documenting his research or illustrating many tales and legends of French America. This exhibition pays tribute to the painter by highlighting a real hidden treasure.
Recognized as a painter emeritus for her work of elegance, refinement and femininity, Rajka Kupesic is a versatile Canadian artist of Croatian origin. Born in Zagreb into a family of artists, she was first a ballerina before turning to visual arts and ballet teaching. It was on her arrival in Toronto in 1979 that she launched the painter's career that earned her recognition on the international scene. Always passionate about dance, she opened her own classical ballet school in 1993 and, more recently, has made dance one of the favorite themes of her paintings. To discover her universe, the MIANM offers you a "Pas-de-deux" with this great artist.
NOTE: The whole space of the MIANM will be dedicated to this exhibition.
Participants in MIANM's free painting workshops exhibit their work.
